Live on south coast, is there any type of spider like this apart from the false widow. It was about the size of a penny and very shiny.

There was an article in Yahoo News a few days ago about exactly this. Apparently the warmer climate in the UK is attracting them. Take care! They can bite, and although apparently not deadly, the bite should be treated at a hospital.
