Heavy Metal Videos Are A Blast From The Past
Heavy metal developed throughout the later part of the 1960s and 1970s and grew to become largely famous around the world during the eighties. Its major aspects are distortions, guitar solos as well as loudness. Even though the main characteristics are relevant to the genre in general, a number of subgenres exist that center on certain facets of the metal theme.
As a young adolescent, my personal favorite type of music has been heavy metal, and I used to love it when MTV will show heavy metal videos, because it felt like it was so unusual for that to occur.
Most of the time, I will need to go through hours of pop or R&B music videos before they would show something even remotely heavy, and once it was over, it was back to patiently waiting once again. I do think that all actually began to change with one of the best regarded heavy metal music videos in history, Metallica's One.
In it, a hospital patient has been terribly wounded battling in a war, but his head is still working as it usually has, and he is basically stuck inside a unproductive human body. The song is based on a novel by Dalton Trumbo known as Johnny Got His Gun, and it is extremely effective.
I believe the video itself really exhibited exactly what can be accomplished with metal music videos and opened the doorway for others. It seemed that right after its release, MTV progressively started playing more and more such music videos.
One which often stands out in my opinion was the video for Paradise City from Guns N' Roses. I guess the reason for that could be the simplicity of the concept, and the white-colored jacket as well as trousers which Axl Rose is sporting. The music video pans around a vacant arena and shows all of the band members standing around and cutting up, and then the music starts and the stadium is packed.
Then it gets into the heavier portion of the song when the band begins tearing those hard chords and Axl starts head banging, and even though it was probably two decades ago that I watched the music video, I still think about it from time to time.
One of the other metal videos I liked was Anti-Social from Anthrax, due to the fact that I liked the track, and I felt like they did not attempt to do to much in the video, which for me would have taken away from the whole feel of the song. It will have been more difficult to focus on the song in case they tried to make the video very fancy.
When the MTV show Headbangers Ball was first introduced, I was totally thrilled, since it was a show devoted entirely to heavy metal videos that I will practically enjoy one after another. The only problem there was which the show was on late in the evening when it initially premiered, and my parents would not often let me stay up watching it.
Today, I would frequently find myself looking up metal videos on the internet to kind of take me back to a time when everyday living was a lot simpler. It's really a blast from the past that sometimes you simply need.
