The Twenty First Century Soccer Mom
What is a new age soccer mom? Here the answer is as simple as the question. There is not much difference with the so-called 'old-age' soccer mom and the new age one. However, the recent generations have the advantage of better technology and more choices. This in some cases eases the burden, but also tends to add to the chaos.
One often quoted complaint of the mom on the go is here general feeling of being out of touch with the rest of the world. This problem has been easily solved with the vast array of personal digital assistants and smart phones. Furthermore, products such as the latest Kindle from Amazon allow the mom to have access to daily newspapers and periodicals. This e-reader is also useful for reading recently published books.
Another aspect that technology has improved the life of a soccer mom is the photo album. With digital cameras and camcorders, compiling a scrapbook album is a breeze. In fact, many don't even bother with the physical album but maintain the pictures in digital format. There are also digital picture frames specifically made for displaying images.
Home design and maintenance have become important concerns for many soccer moms. Given that they spend so much time at home, keeping an appealing home environment is highly valued. Many have performed home remodeling on their own. There are many choices available at the hardware stores specifically targeting the soccer mom. Options range from different types of wall papers, paints, flooring, tiles, curtains, and many other home decor accents.
The other integral part of any soccer mom is the mobility or transportation. The choices are varied here, as well. She can select from vans, SUVs, mini vans, hybrids, and everything in between. The mini van has also seen many changes, such as electronic door sliding and in-seat televisions. For security, many come with twenty four hour road side support and GPS. No doubt, the soccer mom is better equipped.
Once all the cleaning, feeding, and intellectual stimulation has occurred, there comes a time for reflection and relaxation. For this purpose, the mom must ensure that the children are appropriately engaged in some activity. This can range from play dates to video games. The video gaming market has undergone significant changes, as well. The days of kids hanging out at the playground have long passed.
Lastly, with all the amenities available to the new age soccer mom, they have become a very heavily marketed consumer group. Many soccer moms share their successes and failures with their colleagues and this word of mouth recommendation often works best. Long gone are the days of the isolate homemaker. Technology and mobility have broadened the scope and access of many soccer moms.
