Do getting comics autographed increase the value of the comic books?
I have been to many conventions located in different areas, and one of my favorite parts of the conventions is to get comic books signed. From Todd Nauck to Stan Lee, I have collected a many of autographed comic books. If I do decide to sell these comic books, do the autographs add or take away from the comic book value and by how much?
Answer:
All other things being equal, it should.
Catch is: The comic book has to be in _excellent_ shape otherwise. Intact, otherwise unmarked and unmodified. Readable. In the same shape it was in fresh off the rack when you _bought it_ in other words.
This is why I gave up on collecting comic books, personally. Now you have too many people buying issues two at a time--one "reader" and one they slab up and _seal off_ right away to keep it pristine. There's no competing with those folks--and as pricey as single issues are, it really does boil down to spending a good chunk of money to do this.
